  • How can I make an appointment?

  • Do you accept insurance?
    Yes, Dr Belmo accepts BUPA, AVIVA, HEALIX, VITALITY, WPA, CIGNA, AXA and AETNA To book an appointment using your insurance, you will have to provide us with your insurance provider name, policy number and authorisation code.
  • What does a consultation consist of?
    Skin consultations Dr Belmo will discuss your condition as well as your full medical history and any other aspects of your health and lifestyle deemed relevant (e.g diet, family medical history, skincare products). Your skin will be examined. Photos may be taken and uploaded to your electronic patient record. Unless consent is given on our patient registration form, your photos will remain in your medical records and will not be used for teaching, journals or marketing. Dr Belmo will discuss your diagnosis or potential diagnoses with you, as well as treatment options. Treatment may include prescriptions, skincare product recommendations and/or procedures. Surgical and non-surgical procedures will be discussed if indicated. Prices and facility fees will be discussed if indicated. Your consultation will be followed by a clinic letter sent to you by email, and skincare plan, if indicated. Dr Belmo will also advise you when your follow-up appointment should be booked, and how, if necessary. Hair loss/scalp consultations Dr Belmo will discuss your condition as well as your full medical history and any other aspects of your health and lifestyle deemed relevant (e.g diet, family medical history, haircare products, hairstyling history). Your scalp will be fully examined. Dr Belmo will also use an instrument called a dermatoscopic to examine your scalp further. This is called Trichoscopy. Dermatoscopic photos will usually be taken and uploaded to your electronic patient record. Unless consent is given on our patient registration form, your photos will remain in your medical records and will not be used for teaching, journals or marketing. Dr Belmo will discuss your diagnosis or potential diagnoses with you as well as treatment options. Treatment may include prescriptions, surgical or non-surgical procedures. Scalp biopsies and non-surgical procedures e.g. PRP, will be discussed in detail, if indicated. Prices and facility fees will be discussed, if indicated. Non-prescription medication or hairstyling recommendations will be given, if indicated. Your consultation will be followed with a clinic letter sent to you by email. Dr Belmo will also advise you when your follow-up appointment, procedure or scalp biopsy date should be booked, and how, if necessary.
  • How long is the consultation?
    Self-funding Patients • New patient skin consultations last up to 30 minutes, follow up – 20 minutes • New patient hair/scalp consultations last up to 45 minutes, follow up – 30 minutes • New patient joint skin and hair consultations last up to 1hr 15 minutes, follow up – 45 minutes • Video consultations last up to 30 minutes Insurance patients • All new patient consultations last up to 30 minutes • All follow up consultations last up to 20 minutes • There are no joint or double appointments for insurance patients unless your insurance provider have specifically agreed to this. (Confirmation required in writing) Additional time can be requested in advance. This is chargeable.
  • What are your prices?
    Dr Sharon Belmo Dermatology is a private medical clinic, therefore all services are chargeable. All of our prices are listed on our website and can be found here We can also send you a price list if you wish.
  • Are treatments included in the consultation fee?
    No. Treatments such as non-surgical and surgical procedure fees are charged in addition to consultation fees. Any surgical or non-surgical procedures recommended by Dr Belmo will be discussed with you during your consultation and will be booked in advance if you wish to proceed. We have a number of patient information leaflets that explain procedures in more detail.
  • Can I obtain NHS prescriptions in the clinic?
    No, this is a private medical clinic therefore all prescriptions are private prescriptions subject to a charge at the pharmacy. Pharmacy prescription charges are independent of Dr Sharon Belmo Dermatology.
  • Does Dr Belmo see children?
    Dr Belmo sees patients age 17 and over.
  • Will I receive any written information after my consultation?
    Yes, you will be sent a clinic letter by email. This is a full summary of your clinic consultation. Dr Belmo may also send you patient information leaflets of conditions or treatments she recommends you.
  • Will by GP by notified?
    Unless you have asked Dr Belmo to do so, Dr Belmo will not automatically share information with your GP. We do recommend that you share information pertaining to your health with your GP.
  • What happens after my appointment?
    This depends on the outcome of your consultation. You may be given prescriptions, skin or haircare recommendations, advised surgery or procedures. Follow-up arrangements will be discussed with you at the end of your consultation. Dr Belmo’s secretarial team are always happy to assist you with planning any future appointments.
